The Road to the KCAC, Presented by First Commonwealth Bank, travels through River Valley and Penns Manor tonight for the Heritage Conference girls semifinals. West Division first place River Valley will take on the number two team from the East, Portage, while East winner Penns Manor tangles with West second place team Homer-Center.
River Valley is 19-2 overall and is currently third in the District 6 Triple-A rankings, behind Forest Hills and Westmont Hilltop. They beat Portage, 69-43 in their only meeting of the season on January 23rd, and they’ve won ten in a row. Their only losses of the season have both been single points, to the WPIAL’s Latrobe and Elizabeth Forward. The Mustangs come into the semis at 17-5 and are currently number one in District 6 Double-A. After a stretch where they lost four out of five games to conference teams with winning records in January, they’ve won three in a row.
Penns Manor and Homer-Center are currently third and fourth, respectively, in District 6 Double-A. The Comets are 16-5 and the Wildcats are 15-5. Homer-Center won in their only meeting of the year, 36-32 on January 13th. The loss to the Wildcats was the middle game of a three-game losing streak for Penns Manor, which has since won six in a row. Homer-Center has won three in a row and six of their last seven, the only loss being to River Valley on January 27th.

The boys semifinals on The Road to the KCAC will be tomorrow, with United hosting Cambria Heights and Portage welcoming River Valley. The girls and boys championships will be at the KCAC on Friday night.
