BOYS BASKETBALL
In a non-conference battle last night at United, the number-one ranked Class A school in the state topped the Lions. Todd Marino recaps the win by Berlin-Brothersvalley.
Harmony knocked off Purchase Line, 74-59. Andrew Smarsh led the Red Dragons with 14 and Braydon Albright and Joseph Lamer each had 10.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Eve Fiala scored 29 points and Katie Kovalchick had 21 as the Indiana inside game dominated Franklin Regional, 68-31.
River Valley dispatched West Shamokin, 58-21. Ava Persichetti and Hannah Artley both had had double-doubles. Persichetti had 21 points and 11 rebounds. Artley had a dozen points and a dozen boards.
Penns Manor’s girls routed Northern Cambria, 58-19. Alyssa Altemus led the way for the Comets with 17 and on Senior Night, Comets seniors Deja Gillo and Jada Bennett each scored 9.
Homer-Center dropped Marion Center, 59-32.
Purchase Line downed Cambria Heights, 52-40. Anna Layden led the Red Dragons with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Bailey Weaver scored 11. Sienna Kirsch led the Highlanders with 26.
WRESTLING
River Valley beat Somerset, 53-14. Five of the Panthers wins were by forfeit. On the mat, River Valley winners were Grey Williams, Tanner Flickenger, and Levi Anthony-Scholl.
RIFLE
Indiana rifle lost to Butler, 800-51X to 787-35X. Top shooters for Indiana were Rylee Warfel with a 100-7x and Ryan Shaffer with a 100-4x.
