With the exception of the Christmas holiday, winter has been mild for our area. Today, some snowfall could affect the morning commute.
Our area is under a winter weather advisory until 1:00 this afternoon. The National Weather Service says we will see 1-3 inches of snow and sleet today and winds gusting as high as 35 miles an hour.
Accuweather Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski talks about the timing of the storm and how it could affect the morning commute, saying after the snow comes through, the milder weather will return.
PennDOT and the Turnpike Commission advise people not to travel during the height of the storm, but if it is necessary, drivers are advised to take it slow and to be aware of changing weather conditions. Motorists are also reminded that state law requires them to clear snow and ice from their vehicles within 24 hours of the conclusion of a storm.
