The Steelers yesterday announced that they had signed former Penn State wide receiver Dan Chisena to a reserve/futures contract. The former Nittany Lions walk-on has spent the last three years with the Minnesota Vikings, mainly as a special teamer. He was an undrafted free agent who made the Vikings’ roster in 2020. Chisena spent last season mostly on the practice squad, playing in only two games.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said his high ankle sprain felt better than he expected it to yesterday and coach Andy Reid was optimistic as well, but said tomorrow’s opening practice for the AFC championship game will be key to deciding if Mahomes can play against Cincinnati. The injury happened in the first half Saturday in the Chiefs’ playoff win over Jacksonville. Reid said it’s possible Mahomes could play even if he misses all of this week’s workouts, but he’s never done that before.
