Pitt picked up another ACC win last night on the road, their sixth against two losses in the conference, holding off stubborn Louisville, 75-54. Pitt went on a 19-2 first half run to go up by 13 points, but Louisville closed it to within 6 early in the second half before the Panthers re-asserted themselves and pulled away for the win. Pitt is 13-6 overall.
Coach Jeff Capel was especially pleased with his bench play, but says it was an all-around effort in a game he knew would not be easy despite Louisville’s 2-16 record going into the game.
Greg Elliott led Pitt with a career-high 23 points, going 9 of 12 from the field and 5 of 8 on three-pointers. Nike Sibande had 12 points all on first-half three pointers, and Jamarius Burton had 10 points and 11 assists.
Next up for Pitt is Florida State at the Petersen Events Center on Saturday afternoon.
