It was an angry group of Penguins who flew home to Pittsburgh last night after an overtime loss to Ottawa. Paul Steigerwald has the story.
In addition to Rakell’s goal, the Penguins got scores from forwards Jason Zucker and Evgeni Malkin and from defenseman Mark Friedman.
With the equivalent of an entire period played on special teams, coach Mike Sullivan struggled to hold his tongue about the officiating of referees Ghislain Hebert and Dan O’Rourke.
Sullivan says the penalty kill wasn’t good enough, playing in tough circumstances.
The Penguins will get another shot at the Senators tomorrow night at PPG Paints Arena. They’ll play at New Jersey on Sunday afternoon.
