After having the trip cancelled due to an investigation into possible embezzlement of the United Band Boosters funds, the band will be able to go to Walt Disney World after all.
The trip and all affiliated fundraising was stopped after United School District Acting Superintendent Charles Koren was notified of the alleged incident. But according to a news release from the district, the Penns Manor High School Marching Band has invited the United Marching Band members to join them on their upcoming trip to Disney on April 10th to the 15th. Details still need to be worked out on how to pay for the trip, but Koren said that there will be some fundraising opportunities and there is still some money left in the account that they will be able to use. The district will also front some money for the trip if the fundraising efforts come up short.
State police are currently investigating the disappearance of the money from the Band Boosters account, and the district will use any and all means to recover the money. Any money that is recovered will be banked so future classes can plan trips.
