Earlier today, Josh Shapiro was sworn in as the newest Governor of Pennsylvania.
In his inauguration speech, Shapiro said that his work would be inspired by the people he met as he campaigned across the state.
He said that he was humbled that voters in the state elected him to serve as governor and to, in his words, “stand up for what is right” and to continue a theme of unity.
Shapiro is the 48th governor of Pennsylvania, and many of his predecessors were in attendance.
Austin Davis was also given the oath of office today as Pennsylvania’s Lieutenant Governor. He takes over for John Fetterman, who is now a member of the U.S. Senate.
