Emergency crews were busy on Monday with several different calls.
Along with the vehicle crash near Blairsville that we reported in our newscast, Indiana Firefighters were dispatched to the 00 block of Mary Ellens Place in the Chevy Chase section of White Township at 12:17 PM. Crews were cancelled en route after it was determined that there was no brush fire. Officials said in a Facebook post that a homeowner was burning outside of a home when the fire grew large and “out of control”. The homeowner initially called 911 and requested assistance, but called a few minutes later to report it out and requested crews check the area.
Another false alarm was reported on Morewood Avenue in Blairsville at 4:43 PM. The call was initially an automatic fire alarm activation that brought the Blairsville fire and police departments and the Black Lick fire department.
Another vehicle accident was reported on Route 240 in Green Township at 3:44 PM. The Commodore and Clymer fire departments, state police and Citizens’ Ambulance were dispatched at the time.
A vehicle fire was reported at 4:20 PM on Route 422 East in Cherryhill Township. Cherryhill Fire Department was dispatched at the time.
And at 5:00 PM yesterday, the Indiana Fire Association was called out for community service detail along Philadelphia Street.
