Spring Training begins a month from today, on February 13th, when pitchers and catchers who will be participating in the 2023 World Baseball Classic report to their respective Major League teams’ camps, with position players reporting on the 16th.
The first workouts for the Pirates are scheduled for February 15th for pitchers and catchers, and the 20th for the rest of the team. The Bucs’ first Spring Training game will be February 25th when they host Toronto at Lecom Park in Bradenton.
The Pirates have released information on the availability of some players who finished last season on the injury list. They anticipate no issues with pitchers Yerry De Los Santos, Colin Holderman, and Blake Cederlind, or with outfielder Canaan Smith-Njigba. Pitcher Max Kranick, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, will be on a rehab throwing program for the majority of the first half of the season, and into the second half.
