At Steelers practice yesterday, Alex Highsmith was limited with a new ankle injury. Defensive starters Minkah Fitzpatrick, Myles Jack, Larry Ogunjobi, and Arthur Maulet all sat out with a variety of injuries. Offensive starters Diontae Johnson and Kevin Dotson were full participants.
In order to make the playoffs, the Steelers need to beat the Browns and have the Bills beat the Patriots and the Jets take down the Dolphins.
Linebacker Robert Spillane says the Browns are a versatile offensive team that can run and pass the ball.
Jack has suffered through some losing seasons while playing for Jacksonville. He says the 8-8 Steelers reacted differently than other teams do when they found themselves at 2-6 after eight games.

Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin is awake and was able to communicate by writing, and the first thing he asked while in the ICU was “who won the game?” The doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center say they told him “you did…you won the game of life.” Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest Monday night in the Bills’ game against the Bengals. Doctors said his neurological functions “remain intact” and Thursday was a great turning point. They add he’s “beginning to awaken.”
The NFL announced that the Bills and Bengals game has officially been cancelled and ruled a no-contest. That affects the playoff picture in the AFC. Should the Bills and Chiefs both win this weekend and later meet in the AFC Championship game, the game will be played at a neutral site. The same scenario will occur if both those teams lose in Week 18 and the Bengals win. Then if either of those three teams meet in the AFC Championship game, the game will be played at a neutral site.
Week 18 of the NFL season kicks off with a Saturday doubleheader. The Chiefs visit the Raiders in Las Vegas in the opener and the Titans visit Jacksonville to play the Jaguars for the AFC South title in the second game.
Jim Harbaugh released a statement yesterday in which he states that “while no one knows what the future holds, I expect that I will be enthusiastically coaching Michigan in 2023.” Rumors this week have connected Harbaugh to NFL jobs in Carolina and Denver.
