The Pirates dealt infielder/outfielder Diego Castillo to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In exchange the Bucs pick up right handed picture Scott Randall. Randall was a 7th round pick by the Diamondbacks out of Sacramento State in 2021. He has a 3.82 ERA with 104 strikeouts against 25 walks at allowed 14 home runs in 108 innings over 21 starts for High A Hillsboro last season.
Castillo had been designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for the signing of catcher Austin Hedges.
The Bucs also lost Nick Mears as the Texas Rangers claimed him off waivers.
