It was a painful win, but a win nonetheless for the streaking Penguins last night in Miami.
Paul Steigerwald has the story.
Coach Mike Sullivan said after the game that the early prognosis for Evgeni Malkin’s injured right knee was “positive”, and both Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang were optimistic as well. Malkin was not available to comment.
Sullivan says Letang has played well since his return from a stroke.
The coach says the Penguins did not play as tight defensively as he would have wished.
Sullivan says Tristan Jarry is hot right now between the pipes, but he’s also been consistently good all season long.
Letang’s goal was his franchise record fifth short-handed goal by a defenseman, breaking a tie with Randy Carlyle and Larry Murphy.
The Pens return to the ice tomorrow night in Carolina. They are tied with the Hurricanes for second place in the Metro Division, both with 40 points, four behind first place New Jersey.
