The IUP men’s basketball team maintained its number two national ranking in the AFCA coaches poll released yesterday, and in the D2 sports information directors ranking. Northwest Missouri State remains number one.
IUP leads Division II in both field goal percentage (.351) and in scoring defense (56.1 per game)
The IUP women’s team climbed three spots to number 11 in the sports information directors poll but still did not make it into the Top 25 in the Women’s basketball Coaches Association poll.
Both IUP teams will put their undefeated records on the line on Sunday with a home doubleheader against Kutztown, followed on Monday by a doubleheader with West Chester.
IUP’s Thomas McGillan and Paige Mikesell have swept this week;s PSAC Swimmer of the Week awards after they both set several pool records in last Saturday’s dual meet against Clarion.
IUP ranks fourth in the 2022-23 Dixon Trophy standings for overall top sports program in the PSAC. The fall update has the Crimson Hawks sports programs trailing Gannon, Kutztown, and West Chester. IUP has the highest men’s sports percentage while the women’s programs rank 14th among the 18 conference schools.
