The Penguins canceled practice yesterday ahead of tomorrow night’s game in Buffalo. The Pens are 14-8-4 and in third place in the Metro Division while the Sabres are 12-13-1, and in seventh place in the Atlantic Division.
After the Penguins beat Columbus, 4-1, Tuesday night, the Sabres beat the Blue Jackets last night, 9-4, as Tage Thompson scored five goals.
After tomorrow night’s game in Buffalo, the same two teams meet Saturday night in Pittsburgh.
Penguins prospect Sam Poulin has been granted a leave of absence to deal with personal matters and has returned to his home in Quebec. Pens general manager Ron Hextall released a statement that said the team supports Poulin’s decision to “take time away from hockey and focus on himself.” The Penguins asked for privacy for Poulin and said they will welcome him back “when he is ready.”
The 21-year-old 2019 first round draft choice has played three games for the Penguins this season and has been with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for thirteen games, scoring four goals.
