Thanksgiving can be a challenging time of year for certain families, especially this year when inflation severely impacted the prices of turkey, side dishes and desserts.
Despite these rising prices, one local fire department is teaming up to give those less fortunate a Thanksgiving holiday to remember.
Members of the Coral-Graceton Fire Department, along with community volunteers, are hosting a free dinner tomorrow that runs from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the department’s fire hall. Julie Flowers with the fire department said that, over the years, volunteerism has grown with the dinner.
Flowers adds that delivery is available for those who are unable to make the dinner in-person, including the elderly.
Coral-Graceton fire chief Logan Dellafiora says giving back to the community is something his family incorporates in their Thanksgiving Day celebration.
Donations are still being accepted, especially desserts, as pies are in short supply, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. Anyone looking to donate items or time can call Flowers at 724-549-1690 or Lisa at 724-349-8808.
Those numbers can also be used to place orders on Thursday.
