The District VI Class A Championship is on the line tonight at Mansion Park in Altoona as the Northern Cambria Colts take on the Penns Manor Comets.
The Colts entered the playoffs as the second seed and are coming off a 41-0 win over Cambria Heights at home last Friday. Meanwhile, the Comets enter tonight’s game the top seed in District VI Class A and are coming off back-to-back 21-7 wins. One was over Glendale in the quarterfinals and the next came last week against the Portage Mustangs.
Both teams faced off once this season, back on September 30th, and Penns Manor came out on top, 40-14.
For the Comets, tonight’s game holds more meaning than just the championship, as it will mark the 200th career game for coach Bill Packer. He reflected on his tenure at Penns Manor.
Packer also talked about Northern Cambria, saying they have lots of weapons on both offense and defense.
Tonight’s weather forecast presents another hurdle, as snow and cold temperatures are expected. Colts coach Sam Shutty said his team prepared for the inclement weather during the week.
Focusing on the in-game action, Shutty said his team needs to get off to a hot start tonight.
Tonight’s game airs on Cat Country 106.3 FM, and on Renda Digital TV, presented by Tate’s Supermarket and the Clymer Slovak Club, starting with the Indiana Total Therapy Pregame Show at 6 p.m. You’ll find the link to both the radio broadcast and digital stream at WCCSradio.com.
