Pitt lost its third straight game last night, 71-67 to Virginia Commonwealth, but the news was even worse for the Panthers. Starting center John Hugley returned from a knee injury Wednesday night in the loss to Michigan and injured the other knee. He sat out the game last night.
The Panthers led, 60-56 with 2:22 left to play, but VCU went 11-of-13 from the free throw line from then on to secure the win fort the Rams. Pitt turned the ball over 18 times.
Blake Hinson scored 18 and Jamarius Burton 14 for Pitt, which returns home to host Alabama State on Sunday afternoon.
