At his weekly news conference yesterday, coach Mike Tomlin said the challenge for the Steelers this week is handling all of the weapons the Cincinnati Bengals pack into their offense, from quarterback Joe Burrow to a stable of talented receivers, to a top flight running back in Joe Mixon.
Tomlin says the Bengals demand some extra game planning.
The coach is also aware of the importance of winning a divisional game, especially a home game.
Tomlin had a fairly long injury list yesterday but most of the hobbled Steelers are hopeful of playing on Sunday, including safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who had an appendectomy on Saturday. Guard Kevin Dotson has a hip injury and running back Najee Harris a sore knee. Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon’s hamstring continues to be an issue. The coach did not list Kenny Pickett on his injury roundup but did say later that Pickett’s ankle is fine.
Bengals star receiver Ja’Marr Chase is highly unlikely to play but defensive back Mike Hilton vows that he will play.
