Expect injury updates on Kenny Pickett, Pat Freiermuth, and Myles Jack when Coach Mike Tomlin holds his weekly news conference today. Pickett and Freiermuth both suffered sprained ankles on Sunday but both returned to action in the win over New Orleans. Jack was in uniform but was held out of the game with a knee injury. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick also was out after having an appendectomy on Saturday.
The Steelers play the Bengals on Sunday at Acrisure Stadium. It will be the first of the rematches with AFC North rivals this season. Pittsburgh beat Cincinnati in week one, 23-20. The second edition of Steelers/Bengals happens before Pittsburgh plays Baltimore for the first time. The Steelers and Ravens will meet December 11th in Pittsburgh and January 1st in Baltimore.
Steelers players yesterday voted nose tackle Tyson Alualu as the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award, which is given a player from each NFL team for their inspiration, sportsmanship, and courage. Alualu was selected for returning from a season-ending broken ankle suffered in the second week of the 2021 season.
In the NFL last night, Washington upset Philadelphia, 31-21, handing the Eagles their first loss of the season.
