The District VI Class A semifinal matchups are tonight with four Heritage Conference teams in the mix.
One matchup features a cross-town rivalry as second seed Northern Cambria hosts third seed Cambria Heights at Duffy Daugherty Stadium in a rematch of the Coal Bowl on Cat Country 106.3 FM.
This will also mark the first time both teams meet up in the district playoffs.
The two teams met in the season opener, with Northern Cambria walking away with a 35-28 win.
Colts coach Sam Shutty says emotions will be high tonight, but his team needs to keep their eyes on the game.
Highlanders coach Jarrod Lewis says Northern Cambria’s offense is tough to compete against, especially when quarterback Owen Bougher takes the field.
On U92.5 FM, U92radio.com and Renda Digital TV, presented by Tate’s Supermarket and the Clymer Slovak Club, top seed Penns Manor welcomes five seed Portage to Pat Corrigan Stadium.
The Comets blasted the Mustangs, 55-28, during their Week Seven matchup, which also took place in Clymer. During the quarterfinal matchups last week, Penns Manor topped Glendale, 21-7, while Portage bested Juniata Valley, 20-6.
Comets coach Bill Packer says that he was impressed with Portage’s win last week and becoming road warriors in the process.
Portage Head Coach Marty Slanoc said that to avoid what happened last time, they need to remain focused.
Airtime for both games is 6:15 p.m.
