Pitt opened its season last night with an 80-58 win over Tennessee Martin at the Petersen Events Center. Four players scored in double figures, led by Blake Hinson with 27. Fede Federiko scored 13, Greg Elliott 11, and Jamarius Burton 10.
Coach Jeff Capel says they were a bit nervy at the start but began to settle in as the first half rolled on.
Next up for the Panthers is a basketball version of the Backyard Brawl with West Virginia this Friday night at The Pete.
