Despite the return of Jake Guentzel and Jason Zucker to the ice, the Penguins dropped their fourth straight game last night, 3-1, to Seattle.
After a scoreless first period and a disallowed Kraken goal due to an offside violation on a coach’s challenge, Guentzel opened the scoring in the second period with a steal and a breakaway wrist shot. Another Seattle goal later in the period was disallowed on a coach’s challenge (due to a high stick on the puck that should have stopped play), but Kraken forward Jordan Eberle got the tying goal at 11:20 of the period and Seattle took the lead at the 18:33 mark of the period with a goal by Morgan Geekie. Seattle added an empty-net goal at 19:00 of the third period.
The Penguins lost forward Jeff Carter to an undisclosed injury late in the first period. The team went 1-4 on their five-game road trip and will return home Monday to play Boston.
