Coach Joe Lombardi’s IUP men’s basketball team opens its exhibition season tonight with a game against Division I power Syracuse at what used to be known as the Carrier Dome. It’s now known as the JMA Wireless Dome. Tipoff is at 7 PM.
The team played a closed-door scrimmage against Niagara on Sunday. IUP will play its second exhibition game on Sunday against another ACC team, Miami.
IUP was ranked second in the nation in the NCAA DII Power rankings, which were released last week and had the Crimson Hawks behind only defending national champion Northwest Missouri State. The only other PSAC team listed was Mercyhurst, which landed in the “Also Considered” category of the Power Rankings.
