It is week nine of the high school football season, and it is the final week of action within the Heritage Conference, although with the number of conference teams packing the rankings in District 6, some of the Heritage Conference teams will certainly get another shot at each other in a couple of weeks.
On WCCS tonight, 4-4 Homer-Center visits 3-5 Purchase Line. Wildcats coach Greg Page says the Red Dragons’ Matt Falisec will have his boys ready to play.
Page says Purchase Line has a versatile group of players.
Falisec is impressed with Homer-Center and their plug-in quarterback, Riley Clevenger.
Falisec says his team has to protect the football, unlike last week in a loss to United Valley.
The game airs at 6:15 on WCCS and on Renda Digital TV, presented by the Graceton-Coral Sportsman’s Club.
On 92.5 FM U92, newly crowned conference champion Penns Manor takes its undefeated record to backyard rival Marion Center, which is 2-6 and coming off a tough last-drive loss to Homer-Center. Comets coach Bill Packer says that in the wake of last week’s emotional win over Cambria Heights, they can’t ease up against the Stingers.
Marion Center’s Adam Rising likes the progress of his young team, despite the narrow loss at Homer-Center.
On Cat Country, 106.3 FM, 2-6 United Valley takes on winless River Valley. Lions coach Kevin Marabito says don’t be fooled by River Valley’s record.
Panthers coach Jess Houser is proud of his team’s effort, especially his senior group.
The other Heritage Conference games are 5-3 Portage at 6-2 Northern Cambria and 6-2 Cambria Heights traveling to 4-4 West Shamokin.
In the WPIAL, 3-5 Indiana welcomes 4-4 North Catholic to Andy Kuzneski Field. Coach Brad Wright says his team has to play fundamental football.
The Indiana Total Therapy Pregame for Indiana on WDAD and Renda Digital TV, presented by the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, is at 6:30. That’s the same start time for Penns Manor/Marion Center on U92. Pregame for United Valley/River Valley on Cat Country 106.3 FM is 6:20.
