Gas prices in Pennsylvania are beginning to once again follow a national trend as they are going up after several weeks of steady decreases.
Triple-A reports that Pennsylvania’s average cost for a gallon of gas this morning is $3.80 a gallon, which is up three cents from yesterday and up only two cents from one week ago. It’s still an 18 cent decrease from where the cost was last month at this time. Pennsylvania is still lower than the national average, which this morning is $3.86 a gallon. That’s a three-cent jump from yesterday, an eight cent jump from last week and a nine-cent jump from last month.
Experts with Triple-A say the reason for the spike in gas prices is because there is now an increased demand for gas, and supplies are beginning to tighten up once again.
Indiana County residents may get some pains at the pump today. The county’s average this morning is $3.89 a gallon. The lowest average remains with Jefferson County at $3.79, then Clearfield at $3.84, then Cambria at $3.88. Westmoreland County has a $3.93 average while Armstrong county has a $3.94 average. In Indiana, Blairsville, Clymer and Homer City, gas prices are coming to the $3.99 mark this morning, according to gasbuddy.com.
