The Penguins’ Jeff Carter was a full practice participant yesterday and said afterward he hopes to play against Buffalo Friday night in the team’s final preseason game. Goaltender Tristan Jarry also was a full participant after sitting out the day before due to illness.
Injured forward Teddy Blueger and minor leaguers Jonathan Gruden and Taylor Fedun skated on their own before practice.
Carter says he feels better-prepared for the rigors of a full schedule this year after putting in a full season last year on the heels of the pandemic.
Coach Mike Sullivan says the Penguins’ center depth, with Carter on the third line and Blueger on the fourth, and former top draft pick Sam Poulin now NHL-ready, is the strongest he’s even seen, and they’re going to need it.
The regular season starts for the Pens next Thursday, the 13th, at home against Arizona.
