The MLB playoff field is set after the Phillies punched their ticket last night with a 3-0 win over the Astros. While the 12-team playoff field is now complete, matchups have not yet been determined and will be decided over the final two days of the regular-season.
Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa announced his retirement in a statement released Monday. La Russa cited health concerns as the primary reason for stepping away. The White Sox skipper hasn’t managed since August 30th because of a problem with his pacemaker.
