During his weekly news conference on Tuesday, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced that rookie Kenny Pickett will be the team’s starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against Buffalo.
Pickett replaces Mitch Trubisky, who was pulled last game against New York at halftime. After entering the game, Pickett rushed for two touchdowns and went 10-for-13 passing with three interceptions. Tomlin explained that the decision was not made due to Trubisky’s recent performance, but instead the team’s performance overall.
Pickett was drafted in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft, and Tomlin says he has rapidly matured since then.
Sunday’s game between the Bills and Steelers kicks off at 1 p.m. on WDAD 100.3 FM and AM 1450.
