After starting the season with three ties, the IUP women’s soccer team finally broke through last night for their first win of the year, 3-1, over Edinboro. All of the goals in the game were scored in the second half, with Indiana High grad Hannah Scardina opening the scoring with a goal at 61:51. IUP went up 2-0 on a goal six minutes later by Kristen Finnerty, and after Edinboro scored its goal in the 83rd minutes, Finnerty completed the scoring for IUP with her second goal of the game.
The IUP field hockey team shut out Edinboro yesterday, 3-0, to raise its record to 3-and-0. Senior Blaise Cugini scored two goals, sandwiched around a goal by freshman Jessica Davidson, all in the first half. Cara Betancourt and Paeton Hartmann each had assists.
