Coach Mike Tomlin will be expected to address the TJ Watt situation at his weekly news conference at noon today. Watt suffered an apparent serious pectoral muscle injury Sunday against the Bengals, but after undergoing tests Monday morning, he was in the Steelers locker room in the afternoon. ESPN reports that the injury may not require surgery, and if that is so, he may miss about six weeks. If it does require surgery, he could be out for the season.
Tomlin will also talk about his running backs after Najee Harris left the game Sunday with some sort of foot injury. He missed most of training camp with a Lisfranc injury to the same foot.
The Steelers host the Patriots at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Pats quarterback Mac Jones is dealing with back spasms and coach Bill Belicheck declined to discuss the injury at his news conference yesterday.
Dallas QB Dak Prescott is expected to miss 6 to 8 weeks after having right thumb surgery yesterday.
In the NFL last night, Week One came to close with Seattle beating Denver, 17-16 after the Broncos’ Brandon McManus missed a 64-yard field goal that would have put them in the lead with 20 seconds left. Russell Wilson threw for 340 yards in his return to Seattle as the Broncos QB.
