The Steelers continued what coach Mike Tomlin calls their “mock week” of preparations for Sunday’s preseason finale against Detroit. The coach has been trying to simulate as much as possible a typical regular season week of game prep.
Tomlin says the team has responded well to the change in their training camp routine.
At Steelers practice yesterday, Kevin Dotson ran with the first team offense at left guard for the third straight day, signaling that he may have taken the lead in his battle with Kendrick Green for the starting job. Newly-acquired defensive back Elijah Riley played both free safety and slot/nickel cornerback on his first day with the team.
Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith will remain on the sidelines for Sunday’s game with sore ribs. He is back running sprints in uniform but not taking part in team practices.
Sunday’s game kicks off at 4:30. You’ll hear it on WDAD with the airtime at 2:30.
