Indiana improved to 3-0 and 1-0 in Section play with a tight, seven-stroke win over Hempfield yesterday at the Indiana Country Club. Indiana shot a team total of 199 while the Spartans came in at 206. It was the first time Indiana broke 200 in a match in two years.
For the third straight match, junior Trevor Todd was medalist, shooting an even-par 36 in a round that featured a birdie, a bogey, and seven pars. Harrison Martineau shot a 38 and Adam Cowburn a 39. Cowburn dropped one in from 40 feet for an eagle on the first hole. Gabe Nettleton had a 42 and Caden Force a 44 for Indiana. Caden Biondo led Hempfield with a 39.
Indiana will host a tri-match against Hollidaysburg and West Shamokin tomorrow afternoon.
HERITAGE CONFERENCE
Portage edged River Valley by three strokes, 244-247, yesterday at the Immergrun Golf Club in Loretto. George Kissell was medalist with a 42 as the Mustangs had four players shoot in the forties. Jeremy Reed’s 44 led the Panthers and Jake Pynos shot a 46. Holden Fridley and Cole Stuchal each shot 52 for River Valley. Chase Stuchal had a 53 and Niko Vadala had a 55.
