After a day off, the Pitt Panthers resumed training camp workouts yesterday, and it was the first opportunity for coach Pat Narduzzi to publicly talk about the Panthers being ranked 16th in the nation in the USA Today/Coaches preseason poll. Narduzzi is not impressed.
The coach says the preseason poll is based on last year’s results, and really has nothing to do with this year’s team. The AP preseason poll comes out on Monday.
Panthers quarterback Kedon Slovis was back on the practice field yesterday with no limitations after having back spasms last weekend.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Pitt’s ACC rival, Wake Forest, is losing quarterback Sam Hartman for an “an extended period of time” with a non-football-related medical condition. Coach Dave Clawson says Hartman underwent “a medical procedure” this week and the school did not release details on the nature of the situation.
