The Steelers announced their 2022 Hall of Honor class yesterday. It includes former tight end Heath Miller, 1970s-era guard Sam Davis, 1950s halfback Ray Matthews, and broadcaster Myron Cope. The four will be honored on November 11th at Acrisure Stadium.
Miller is the only living member of the class. He is the Steelers’ all-time leader in receptions by a tight end, yards receiving by a tight end, and touchdowns by a tight end. He played on two AFC Pro Bowl teams and on two Super Bowl champions.
Davis played on four Super Bowl-winning Steelers teams. He was an undrafted free agent in 1967 and is the third offensive lineman from the Steelers’ 1970s teams to make the Hall of Honor.
Matthews was an accomplished runner and receiver who played nine seasons with the Steelers and made two Pro Bowls.
Cope was a color commentator for the Steelers from 1970 through 2004. He was a nationally-recognized sportswriter and was named to the Radio Hall of Fame in 2005. He won the Pete Rozelle Award for exceptional contributions to pro football in radio and television, and created the Terrible Towel . He is the only member of the Hall of Honor who was never employed by the Steelers.
