Bryan Reynolds was back in the lineup but the Pirates still could not find enough offense as they wasted another good pitching performance in Chicago.
Joe Block has the story.
The Pirates wrap up the two-game series this afternoon. Bryse Wilson [1-5, 6.52 ERA] pitches for the Bucs against the Cubs righty Keegan Thompson [7-4, 3.43 ERA]. It will be a 1:55 airtime on WCCS.
Bryan Reynolds was 0-for-4 in his return to the lineup after missing ten games with a right oblique strain. To make room for Reynolds on the roster, outfielder Jake Marisnick was returned to the injured list, this time with a big toe injury.
The Pirates have announced the signing of six more players from the 2022 draft class, bringing to ten the number of new players under contract. The newest Bucs are 5th round choice outfielder Tres Gonzalez, and the team’s 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th, and 20th round selections, pitchers Derek Diamond, JP Massey, Mike Walsh, Dominic Perachi, and Josh Loeschorn. First round pick Termarr Johnson remains unsigned.
