A great pitching matchup turned sour for the Pirates yesterday at PNC Park.
Greg Brown has the story.
The Pirates hit the road for a couple of games in Chicago. JT Brubaker [2-8, 4.02 ERA] goes for the Bucs against the Cubs’ Adrian Sampson [0-1, 3.34 ERA] tonight. It’s a 7:45 airtime on WCCS.
Pirates center fielder Bryan Reynolds said after yesterday’s game that “it’s been long enough” and he is ready to return to the lineup after a stint on the injured list for a right oblique strain. Reynolds has missed the last ten games. He’s taken batting practice for the last four days and has run the bases. After the trade of Daniel Vogelbach to the Mets on Friday, the Pirates need Reynolds’ bat back in the lineup.
ALTOONA CURVE
Altoona topped Harrisburg, 3-2, yesterday as Blake Sabol’s tenth inning single drove in Jared Triolo with the winning run. Sabol also homered on the day. Starter Quinn Priester gave up just one unearned run in six innings, striking out eight with just a walk and six hits surrendered. Tyler Samaniego threw one-and-two-thirds one-hit innings to get the win.
