Aside from last night’s fire in White Township, Friday was an active day for Indiana County’s first responders.
Two brush fires were reported on Friday. The first was reported at 7:57 AM on Route 22 East in East Wheatfield Township. Armagh/East Wheatfield and Clyde fire departments were called out at the time. Later in the day, a brush fire was reported at 2:05 PM along George Road in Young Township. This brings the brush fire count for the year to 29.
Two vehicle accidents were also reported over the last 24 hours. One accident was reported at 8:16 PM on Laurel Road in Pine Township. Pine Township and Cherryhill Township Fire Departments were dispatched along with Citizens’ Ambulance and State Police. The other accident was at 4:24 this morning on Martin Road in White Township. Indiana Fire Association and state police were dispatched to the scene. Fire officials said that the driver rolled his vehicle as he swerved to miss a deer. The driver was able to get out on his own and had only a minor cut.
