Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick appeared before the media yesterday after signing his four-year contract extension.
He said he knew the type of organization he was coming to in 2019 when the Steelers lost Ben Roethlisberger two games into the season and still focused on winning.
Fitzpatrick’s signing, coupled with the long-term deals of fellow All-Pros TJ Watt and Cam Heyward, makes the Steelers the highest-paid defense in the NFL, and he says they have to live up to the confidence the team has shown in them.
The contract extension covers five years overall and pays Fitzpatrick about $84 million. He said the team reached out several weeks ago and said they were ready to start negotiating, and after the two sides exchanged proposals, the deal came together quickly.
Steelers training camp begins July 27th at St. Vincent College.
