ALTOONA
In a tense pitchers duel, Altoona lost to Reading, 1-0, on a 9th inning walkoff wild pitch by reliever JC Flowers. The Curve managed only two hits, a double by Liover Peguero in the 4th inning and a single by Matt Gorski in the 7th. Noe Toribio started for the Curve and went two no-hit innings before giving way to Travis McGregor, who allowed only two hits over five innings.
The Curve will send Luis Ortiz to the mound tonight for game four of the series.
BRADENTON
2019 Pirates first round draft choice Quinn Priester finally made his season debut last night, pitching three innings and striking out one in a start for Low-A Bradenton. Priester had been out since spring training, when he suffered a quad injury. His three no-hit innings contributed to a combined four-pitcher complete game no-hitter for the Marauders, who beat Clearwater, 3-0. Pirates #8 prospect Anthony Solometo got the win with four innings pitched. The game also featured a rehab start for catcher Henry Davis, last year’s top draft pick, who was 1-for 2 with a double and a walk as he returns from a fractured bone in his left wrist.
