The Pittsburgh Steelers formally introduced their new General Manager with a news conference Friday morning.
Omar Khan takes over for Kevin Colbert, who will retire soon. Khan has been with the Steelers as their vice president of football and business administration, and has worked with the team since 2001 after breaking into the league as a part of the New Orleans Saints in 1997. Khan said that even though he is not from the area originally, he is a Western Pennsylvanian now, and said he would not be the man he is today without the guidance he received from the Rooney family.
When asked about what he is looking forward to, Khan said that he was excited to meet the players and for the upcoming season.
Khan takes over as the new GM in a post-Roethlisberger era. During Khan’s time with the black and gold, the Steelers have won two Super Bowls and three AFC championships.
Meanwhile, the players were back at it for the third day of OTA’s at the UMPC Rooney Sports Complex. The team has memorial day weekend off before resuming OTAs on Tuesday.
