IUP Athletics announced yesterday that IUP finished 10th in the 2021-22 Dixon Trophy standings after the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced overall department awards yesterday.
The Dixon Trophy was introduced during the 1995-96 academic year in honor of former PSAC chairman Eugene Dixon Jr., and is given to the league’s most successful program based off conference record and/or postseason result. Standings are determined based on average score for all PSAC Championship sports each school sponsors.
With three PSAC titles surrounding IUP Athletics – coming from men’s golf, men’s basketball and women’s tennis – the Crimson Hawks tallied 36 points for all three combined.
IUP’s average overall score was 10.37, giving it a 10th place finish out of 19 schools. Gannon won the Dixon Trophy with a 12.97 average, Slippery Rock came in second (11.56) and Mercyhurst was third (11.32).
