A three-run home run by Aaron Shackelford proved to be the difference maker for the Altoona Curve yesterday as they beat the Harrisburg Senators, 7-1, in an Education Day game.
Shackelford’s home run followed a game-tying RBI double by Jared Triolo in the second inning. It was his sixth this season. Matt Fraizer and Blake Sabol drove in three insurance runs on two doubles in the ninth.
Will Kobos picked up the win in relief after tallying three strikeouts in 1.1 innings pitched. J.C. Flowers picked up his second save after pitching the final two innings. Starter Carmen Mlodzinski earned a no-decision after picking up five strikeouts over 3.2 innings.
Game three between the Curve and Senators is tonight at 6:30 p.m.
Mike Burrows (2-0, 2.27 ERA) is tabbed to start for Altoona.
