INDY 500
The stars are showing up for this weekend’s Indianapolis 500. Actor Miles Teller, who plays Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw in the upcoming film Top Gun: Maverick, will serve as the honorary starter. Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles said in a news release, “Miles is no stranger to action-packed roles, and waving the green flag for the 33 drivers racing for history will provide him with a similar adrenaline-fueled experience.”
FRENCH OPEN
The top tennis players in the world are clashing on the clay at the French Open. On the men’s side, second-seeded Daniil Medvedev rolled to a victory and fourth-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas survived a five-set thriller in the First Round. Americans Frances Tiafoe and Steve Johnson advanced with wins, while Bjorn Fratangelo was ousted in straight sets. On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka and Karolina Pliskova each battled to three-set wins. Ninth-seeded Danielle Collins rolled in straight sets, while fellow Americans Jessica Pegula and Shelby Rogers also moved on to the Second Round.
