Noe Toribio posted a career-high eight strikeouts while outfielder Matt Gorski homered in his Class AA debut as they helped the Altoona Curve beat the Harrisburg Senators, 8-6, on Tuesday.
After Omar Cruz set the table with four innings to start the game, Toribio took over for the final five frames and allowed just four hits while fanning the aforementioned eight batters.
Gorski, who was promoted to Altoona just hours before yesterday’s game, gave the Curve an early lead with a two-run home run in the first. He would finish the game 2-for-5 with three RBI at the plate.
Tucupita Marcano raised his season batting average to .304 after going 3-for-4 with a RBI. Gorski, Blake Sabol and Aaron Shackelford each had a stolen base.
Altoona and Harrisburg return to action tonight at 6 p.m. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski will start for the Curve.
