Indiana County Courts are expected to be busy with a sentencing hearing along with jury selection for some upcoming trials.
The sentencing hearing is for a Pittsburgh man charged some vehicle-related offenses and illegal possession of a firearm. The charges were filed by state police against for an incident on November 26th in West Wheatfield Township. A traffic stop was conducted on Route 22 East near Shady Grove Road when police conducted a search. It was reported at the time that the driver, Amsa Sanneh was in possession of a firearm, but did not have a concealed carry permit. He pleaded guilty to all charges except a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, which was disposed of at a lower court.
Meanwhile, jury selection will start today for the trial of an Indiana man accused of stabbing another man during what was called a “heated argument” between the two on November 13th of 2020. Police were called out to a home on North 4th Avenue, where 50-year-old Shaun Hubert Robinson allegedly stabbed an un-named 24-year-old man. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault along with reckless endangerment and possession of an instrument of crime.
Jury selection is also set for today for:
- 59-year-old Ernest Lee Benham of Marion Center. He faces charges of DUI, driving on a suspended license and four other summary traffic-related counts for an incident on May 26th of 2020
- 29-year-old Michael Markel of Indiana, who faces charges of illegal firearm possession, reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct for an incident on December 19th of 2020.
- 52-year-old Roberta Lynn Lane of Sykesville, who is charged with use or possession of drug paraphernalia on June 16th, 2020.
