MLB:
Former Pirates pitcher Trevor Cahill signed a minor league contract yesterday with the New York Mets, who’ve been dealt a rough hand with pitchers this year.
Cahill, 34, pitched just 37 innings for the Pirates last year before a broken foot sidelined him for the season. He posted a 6.57 ERA with a below-league-average 19.3 groundball percentage.
The 12-year MLB veteran will be assigned to Triple-A Syracuse in the coming days.
