Despite another strong day at the plate by Nick Gonzales, the Altoona Curve dropped Friday’s game to the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 5-4.
The Curve took a one-run lead in the second inning after a solo home run by Brendt Citta, but Richmond added three in the top of the third to take their first lead of the game. Gonzales tied the game in the third with a two-run home run, and Connor Scott put Altoona ahead by one in the fourth with a RBI bunt single.
Richmond would tack on two more in the seventh and ninth innings to take the game.
Both teams return to action for game four of the six-game slate. RHP Michael Burrows (1-0, 2.35 ERA) is tabbed to start for Altoona.
First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
