Starter J.T. Brubaker set a career-high with 10 strikeouts, but a lack of offensive support saw the Bucs lose their second straight to the Chicago Cubs, 7-0, Tuesday night.
Joe Block has the recap.
The Cubs look to go for the series sweep tonight, while the Pirates hope to salvage at least one game in Chicago. The Pirates have not announced a starter and the Cubs will send Wade Miley (1-4, 3.64 ERA) to the hill. Airtime 7:15 on WCCS.
For those keeping track at home – and if you haven’t been, you can easily start doing so – the Pirates have been outscored 16-1 in their last three games with just eight hits to show for it. Last night was the first in three games that the Pirates were able to muster an extra-base hit. They had two.
In Pirates injury news, shortstop Kevin Newman made a rehab appearance last night with Class AAA Indianapolis. He went 0-for-2.
