As anticipated, Gas Prices in Indiana County took a dramatic jump on Monday.
Gas prices in Indiana, Homer City, Blairsville and Clymer jumped twenty cents over the last 24 hours to $4.69 a gallon. Despite this, Triple-A reports that Indiana County’s average as of this morning is $4.59 a gallon. Again, Indiana County’s Average is the lowest in the region, with Armstrong County just above it at $4.61 a gallon. That’s followed by Westmoreland County at $4.62 a gallon then Jefferson County at $4.63 a gallon. Both Cambria and Clearfield Counties tied for the highest of the region at $4.65
Pennsylvania’s average this morning is $4.67 a gallon, a five cent jump over the last 24 hours and 13 cents over the last week. The national average is now $4.52 a gallon, a jump of four cents from yesterday’s average and fifteen cents from the last month.
Only three states still have gas price averages under the $4.00 a gallon mark. Those are Georgia, Kansas and Oklahoma. The rise in costs can be attributed to the high cost of crude oil and the nationwide switchover to summer blends of gasoline, which according to experts, adds seven to ten cents to the cost of a gallon of gas.
